1What is BBCode

BBCode or Bulletin Board Code is a lightweight markup language used to format posts in many message boards. The available tags are usually indicated by square brackets ([ ]) surrounding a keyword. BBCode is used on this site for create textual content, such as guides, forum posts, comments and more. Check the BBCode TAG List

2How Create a Guide

The guide creation is simple process, but it can take soo much times, depending how many details and content you want to add. Then first of all you'll have to open the form page at this url: https://aboutpvp.com/guides/add/game-name, so if for example you want to make a Dota 2 guide, you need go here: http://aboutpvp.com/guides/add/dota-2 You can also open the form through the CREATE GUIDE button in home page, or with the icon above the Dota 2 cover image that you can find here: http://aboutpvp.com/guides The create guide icon (+) appear when you hover the image. In the creation form you need to: -Add a Title under the proper textfield which can have a maximum length of 255 characters(you can also hide if you do not want to display it in final results by check HIDE TITLE box) -Choose to which character(Hero for Dota 2) the guide refers and in what language it was written (default english), through the proper select box. -Write an introduction in the INTRODUCTION textarea, this is necessary because it introduce the topic, and will be displayed in the following news, as well it appear in the description of search engines like google. Is very important and usefull for users. -You can also choose a CUSTOM IMAGE(not mandatory) that is a custom icon that will represent your guide, without it we will use the character(Hero for Dota 2) default icon which you choose before. Some games can have "special" contents that can help your work and add more complexity to the guide. For example if you want to creare a Dota 2 guide, in the form page you can see that there are two blocks called ITEMS and ABILITIES. By clicking on one of these will open them for add game content related to items and abilities, as they are in the game, you can also drag and reposition them. The creation of these "special" content is not mandatory, and you can simply ignore or hide them by clicking the X at the top the right. note:
Not all supported games have these "special" contents, for know who have them go to http://aboutpvp.com/guides, and see what games have a yellow strip with the words FEATURED, above the cover of the game.

The "special" games have also a personalized BBCode that you can find in the textarea buttons panel, see the icon with game logo, like here: After clicking on it you will see a popup that will be filled with many of the icons related to specific game, that you can use with a simple click on them. The uses of these icons is highly recommended as it avoids the use of external images and you have the tooltip functionality for each icons.
Now you can write the "body" of the guide, by adding CHAPTERS that represent all points of you guide. The use is not mandatory, but is extremely reccomanded. For create a chapter you must enter both the body and the title to which it refers, each time you insert a chapter, it will be listed alongside the index column. Before saving a guide, you can see its preview by clicking on PREVIEW button, with this you will see how it appear once that is saved. warning: The creation of empty guides designed to spam or with content not in line with the Rules, will be deleted and the creator can be punished according to the rules, for more information refer the RULES. The administrator is guaranteed the right to change or remove a guide if it is not comply with the Rules, if you believe that a decision is unfair contact us through the contact form. Once a guide is created, the author can update or delete it at any time, and for as many times as desired, so it is strongly recommended to update your guide from time to time for make it updated with with game changes For more info regarding guide creation refer to: BBCODE TAGS BASIC GUIDE EXAMPLE

3How Upload a Video

Frst of all you'll have to open the form page at this url: https://aboutpvp.com/videos/add/game-name, so if for example you want to upload a Dota 2 video, you need go to at this url: http://aboutpvp.com/videos/add/dota-2 You can also open the form through the UPLOAD VIDEO button in home page, or with the icon above the Dota 2 cover image that you can find at: http://aboutpvp.com/videos The upload video icon (+) appear when you hover the image. In the creation form you need to: -Add a Title under the proper textfield which can have a maximum length of 255 characters. -Choose to which character(Hero for Dota 2) the video refers and in what server it was recorded, through the proper select box. -Write an introduction in the INTRODUCTION textarea, this is necessary because it introduce the topic, and will be displayed in the following news, as well it appear in the description of search engines like google. Is very important and usefull for users. -Upload the video by clicking on CHOOSE VIDEO FILE, then after choose a video click on the UPLOAD button, the upload process may vary depending on the traffic on the server and your upload speed. note: Actually you can not resume the upload if it will be interrupted, so be careful. Once upload is finished (you can view the progress with the progress bar), you can choose one of the five auto generated thumbnails that will represent the video. If you dont like any of these thumbnails, you can add a personalized images by uploading them with the CUSTOM IMAGE box. Anyhow you can change them at any time, simply going to the editing form. Once everything is ready just click save, and wait untill the encoding process is finished, you can exit the page and do other stuff, the encoding job is automatic. The time may vary, depending on traffic and how much videos is already in queue. note: Once video content is saved, you cannot modify the video by uploading another, you can edit only other fields, but not the video field.

4What Is The Reputation

Reputation is a decimal number that will be aquired when you perform operations on the site, like create guides, videos, forum topics, comments and more. It is associated with a title that varies depending on the user's reputation (it is visible in the forum user panel and below the comments).

It will be associated with a graphic representation (stars) which vary from bronze to gold, based on the reputation.

There are points associated by actions:

30 points for feedback (only if approved by admin)
30 points for create video or guide
5 points for create a forum topic
2 points for comments/posts
1 points for voting contents

5How the Rating System Works

Is possible to rate a guide or a video, that are not your creation, clicking on the stars in the upper right under "YOUR VOTE". You can assign a score from 1 to 5 which will make average with the votes of other users, if any. You can see the average rating under "AVERAGE VOTE".

6How the Follow System Works

The website has a "follow" feature, to make it more social and easy for user to stay tuned with some contents. You can follow users, videos, guides, forum topics and games. You can follow a user, going on its profile and clicking on "FOLLOW", once done you will receive news about its activities on the site. You can follow a game, going to www.aboutpvp.com/guides or www.aboutpvp.com/video or www.aboutpvp.com/livestreams, and clicking on follow button that appear on the image of the game when you mouse hover, once a game is followed, you will receive news about the content that will be created under selected game You can follow a content (video, guide, forum topic) going on its page and clicking on "FOLLOW", you will receive news about the content updates. When you follow something, you can see the news list in the Home page under "Follow Activity" or at the address aboutpvp.com/follow-activity For unFollow, just repeat the process and click unfollow, the button is a toggle.

7How send a feedback or a bug report

8How i can report a profile, a comment or a content (guides, videos, forum topic)

To report a profile go to his address, for example: http://aboutpvp.com/users/name and click on the "REPORT" at the right column. To report a content, go to his address, for example http://aboutpvp.com/guides/guide-title and click on the "REPORT" button at the right column. To report a comment, just click on "REPORT" button that is in the link bar of the comment itself. The administrators will check the reported contents, and will act accordingly to the website rules.

9Why my content is not showing up on the browse list

The video contents is not published instantly as they need to undergo a "coding" process by the system, the encoding time varies depending on traffic and the position of your video in the queue. In case of problems, contact us. For other contents, and also for videos, this can happen if the content has been removed by administrators, contact us for more information.

10What is Featured Contents

Featured (guides or videos) are contents that About PvP staff members, after a evaluation, they think it is excellent. The evalutation is made by assessing formatting and content.

11How do i get my content featured

You can report a content(video or guide) for evaluation by contacting us at feedback@aboutpvp.com

12How i can report a game server for adding in the video server list

You can report a new game server by contacting us at feedback@aboutpvp.com Send us all the materials that prove the autenticity of a private or official game server. After a evalutation, if it complies with the rules, the server may be added to server list during video creation.

13Why this website is in beta

Is in beta because it is still in development, so some things could change radically, and you can find issues at server level or at code level. It will remain in beta until we have a 100% positive feedback from users and our project will be developed in all its features (we have many more features in mind).
