Banned from my university
League of Legends was a big phenomenon at my university, everyone was playing it, to the point that we were draining all the bandwidth from the university wifi, and this called the attention of the IT services, that somehow managed to ban the game from that network. It was a shame because those were awesome days and we had a great community of players. Well, we did continue, but it was not the same. Anyone had a similar situation?

Yeah, they banned us from it back in high school. I'm not aware of it taking up a lot of bandwidth though unless everyone updates their game on the university wifi and they aren't that big but I can imagine every Wednesday(the day the patch i think) when everyone decides to update at once haha! They just black listed the ip address from your network. It's easy to get around it though but then you'd have to tell everyone about it.

lol so no surprise it's not an isolated case. The issue was that some connected routers to the network (don't ask me why as I am not that big an expert), and somehow managed to make the game load a lot faster, and those that really wanted to study had the internet really slow! :D It was good while is lasted. :)

Yes, most universities do that, whenever something that a large of students participate in or do that drains the bandwidth or puts a strain on the servers they ban it, unlucky really.

That sounds about right. It has been a few years now but I really do have memories of leaving school and thinking that they were really starting to clamp down on things like that. Turns out that has not really changed.

Yeah, I suppose they know what they are doing, but even so we had some happy months. :) First more and more people started to join, then we peaked, and finally it was a sad day when we realized that we were shut down. I guess school is to study? :D

I can understand. Game addiction is like that only. One wants to play the game every time and everywhere. Even I have been through this phase . It was an intelligent move on the part of your university to bam the game. Never forget work while you work , play while you play and that is the way to be happy and gay.

League of legends can be quite addicting and i'm speaking of personal experience, but i still don't see the reason on to ban it instead of just limiting the time each person can play.

I have to agree that the game League of legends is quite an addicting game and we used to play that game during my college days on the weekends in our hostel. Man, those were awesome times and we got a warning from our network administrator but they didn't ban the game and all. I think it is pretty cruel what your college had done.

I totally understand you guys. Sometimes we get addicted to gaming without even knowing. I could play PS the whole without even noticing an hour passing by. The league of the legends is a fun game as from what I have heard. Never got a chance to try it.
